STEWARDSHIP

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Christian stewardship comprises three parts, all of which represent a thanksgiving to God for all he has given us, including our lives, our families, our jobs and our wealth:

Time – to attend, and to bring your children to church, to volunteer to help with the upkeep and cleanliness of the church and the grounds, to be part of the community during events

Talent – to offer service on the Board, in ministries where your natural and learned talents can be of service in the church and outside communities as appropriate (in both professional and practical talents)

Treasure – to offer a percentage of our income to the work of God’s church (a tithe or 10% is the norm) and to help the poor and needy (alms).

Please consider how you can help with work at the church and with your offerings. If you have never made a systemic weekly or monthly gift, know that God asks that you give what you can cheerfully, and as a means of deepening your faith and trust in Him. He will always return to you more than you ever imagined possible. Please consider for instance giving 1-2% in the first year and then increase it gradually over the years to 10%. Also, remember your church in your will or testament understanding that our Church is here to stay for generations to come and serve them as well.

Please know God does not need your money for Himself. However, He entrusted us to take care of our church and its mission and like any household, we need to run the church and it costs on an average of $25000 per month and to support the Frescos (see below) and other things we have done to beautify and adorn this ‘Bride of Christ’!

Please pray and decide how you can respond to this with your weekly offerings. May God bless all your efforts and your family as you respond to this, His call.

Please join Church Stewardship and help your St. Sava Church fulfill its mission. Let us use our God-given Time, Talents and Treasures to glorify God and provide a bright future for our children and generations to come. We thank you for your support!

We welcome all visitors to our St. Sava Church. Let us be attentive and respectful in the Church “for the Lord is in His Holy Temple.” Service books are available at the entrance to follow along with the Liturgy. Please silence all cell phones so that our minds and hearts may be turned to God. We invite you to join us for family lunch & coffee served every Sunday in the fellowship hall following the Liturgy. Welcome!

A note regarding Holy Communion: Only those baptized Orthodox Christians who have prepared themselves through prayer, fasting and confession may participate in Holy Communion. We invite all, however, to venerate the cross and receive the Blessed Bread which is distributed at the dismissal. Preparation for receiving Holy Communion for healthy adults should include fasting, being on time for the start of the Divine Liturgy, praying the pre-communion prayers (see the Service Book), and abstain from all food and drink from midnight before the Liturgy. Children, elderly, pregnant, or ill parishioners should consult the priest. After receiving Holy Communion, we should stay in Church until the conclusion of the Liturgy. If you have questions, or if you would like to become a steward of the Church, please feel free to speak with the priest after Liturgy.

Our Church building provides restroom facilities, but please be respectful and only use them as a necessity during the service or use the church hall facilities. Parents, please accompany your young children to ensure proper use and care of restroom facilities. Thank you!
